The strong communities of Greenville, Spartanburg, and Anderson have given us the ability to show off our skills. Our Story starts in 1993
Billy Cribb - Owner of Abstract Pools
Aabstract Pools started out in the early 90’s building comercial and residential, vinyl and gunite pools. Although successful, a push for building more breathtaking backyards was always a desire for owner, Billy Cribb. Because of the higher quality that gunite and shotcrete pools offer it was an easy decision to specialize in residential gunite pools. He pushed the company to take on several custom high end residential pools.
Working side by side with landscape architects and home builders, Aabstract Pools was able to learn how to create projects that exceed expectation and provide the homeowners with the backyard of their dreams.
After several years this became our niche, so we stuck to it. That is what makes Aabstract Pools the Premier Gunite Pool Builder in the Upstate of South Carolina. We only use the highest quality products available, while we focus on taking on jobs that will be truly astounding. We have installed jaw dropping custom waterfalls, unique underwater benches, infinity edges, beach style entry ways, swim up bars, unbelievable spas, and so much more. The knowledge we have is only found with time.

Pool Features
Infinity Edge
Infinity or negative edges utilize a water basin below the pool level to allow water to spill over the side of the pool. This gives the allusion that the pool continues out beyond the other pool walls. This a fantastic effect that creates an unbelievable outdoor experience. You will not only enjoy the look of the pool, but also the sound the overflowing water makes. The basin can be an equally enjoyable part of the outdoor space, it is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the aesthetic of the water feature that the negative edge creates.
Tanning Ledges
Tanning ledges or sun shelves sit in the body of the pool at a shallower depth than the rest of the pool. Tanning ledges range from 6” to 12” and are wonderful places to place pool furniture like underwater chairs, chaises, tables, and umbrellas. It’s a very fun place for kids to hang out and also a great spot to sit back, relax, and enjoy the pool.
Benches & Barstools
Under water benches can be located in almost any spot along the pool walls. They are typically 18” wide and approximately 18” below the surface of the water. Under water benches can be used as a pools deep end egress which eliminates the need for a ladder in the deep end.
Automatic Pool Cover
Automatic pool covers are an ASTM approved method of covering a pool, spa, or pool spa combo. Equipped with a key pad for safely opening and closing the pool, these covers are a fantastic way to keep the pool area safe and the pool water clean.
Slides, Diving boards, and Jumping rocks
Slides, diving boards, and jumping rocks add tons of fun to a pool area! They can be designed into most any project, but do have several building and code requirements. It is important to let Abstract know if you would like your pool to be designed for any of these features so that all of the requirements are placed into the design.
Infinite Swim Lanes
Infinite swim lanes are water return systems that create a stream of water in the pool that allow a user to get a variety of different work outs. These systems have a range of designs, some being used for water aerobics or aqua jogging and other being equipped to allow a seasoned swimmer to get an excellent workout. Abstract installs Badu Jet swim systems and can design any of their units into your next project.
In-Floor Cleaning
In-floor cleaning allows a pools floors and walls to be cleaned through pneumatic heads in the pools floor. Debris is then taken to a debris canister through the pools main drain. Abstract installs the Paramount PCC-2000.
Water Features
Fire & water
Fire and water bowls are ways to add an awesome wow factor to a back yard! They are made in several finishes to help match the style of any backyard. They can be installed to be fire only, water only, or a combo of the two with fire and water to create a feature that will not be forgotten.
Waterfalls & Spillways
Spillways are installed between pools and spas to allow them to share a pool filtration system. They can be designed to have several smaller width spills or one larger spill. They add an enjoyable sound and aesthetic to the pool area.
Bubblers
Bubblers send water from the pool floor into the air. They are most commonly installed in tanning ledges or sun shelves, but can also be installed in underwater benches. As the water projects from the surface of the pool it creates a rippling effect across the surface. This is a fun feature that can create visual interest in shallow areas of the pool.
Deck Jets & Laminars
Deck jets and laminar jets project water in an arc from the pool patio or terrace into the pool. They are an elegant feature that help to draw the eye towards the pool. They create a soothing water sound and are a great way to add excitement to the pool area without having to install a raised wall.
Sheer Descents
A sheer descent or spill way scupper is a water feature that sheets water into a pool, spa, or fountain. Sheer Descents are most commonly mounted under the cap stone of a raised wall above a water vessel. They can be custom made to follow pool radiuses. Sheer descents create a relaxing sound as they cascade water into the water below.
Sconces
Sconces, scuppers, or spouts are installed on a pool raised wall and can project water in a stream or a curtain depending on the style. They are a fantastic way to add elegance, sound, and a beauty to a project.
